Cooking up a website refresh

The Bunker had a heavily customised, Gutenberg-based website. As time passes, the solution became out of date and buggy.

The team were doing a fantastic job “hacking” Gutenberg to get the website doing what they needed it to do, but with the launch of The Bunker Mulgoa, it was universally agreed that a new website would be a good thing!

One catch was that the extent of data saved in the back end of WordPress. Rather than rebuilding a website from scratch, I used Elementor to create duplicate pages, one by one, and then we sent them live, overwriting the current sitemap with the new pages. It was an interesting challenge to implement theme changes, etc, without anything slipping through to the live site!

The new website also includes some custom fields for their What’s On page, so the team can showcase the Bunker’s Mountains-famous degustations, as well as weekly specials.
